Workshop: Artificial Intelligence for Education
Introduction
The use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques in Education is a research area in continuous expansion within the AI community. The goal of the Workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Education (WAIFE 2006) is providing a forum for researchers to discuss and exchange ideas and experiences on the use of Artificial Intelligence techniques in Education. We encourage the presentation of applications and research projects currently under development.
WAIFE 2006 will be part of ASAI 2006, the Eight Argentine Symposium on Artificial Intelligence, which will be held in Mendoza, Argentina from 4 th - 5 th September 2006.
Topics of particular interest include (without being limited to):
• Intelligent tutoring systems
• Student modeling
• Tutor modeling
• Pedagogical agents
• Personalized assistance to students
• Personalized assistance to tutors
• Virtual learning environments
• Adaptive e-learning systems
• Agent-based learning environments

Paper Submission
WAIFE 2006 papers should discuss solutions, present work in progress or experiences at using AI in education. Submissions are due before July 14th 2006. Delayed submissions will most likely be rejected. All papers received before the deadline will be peer-reviewed by referees of the area. The submission of manuscripts must follow the format available at http://www.springer.de/comp/lncs/authors.html . All contributions, of about 5-page length, should be submitted in Ghostview-readable Postscript or PDF formats. Papers in English, Spanish and Portuguese will be considered.
All contributions should be submitted as an attachment in an email message in PDF format. The following information must be included in the body of the email message:
• Title of the paper
• Authors' names and affiliations (including postal address, e-mail address and phone/fax number)
• Abstract
• Corresponding author
• A maximum of five keywords
• The main topics the paper is related to
Electronic submissions must be sent to asai2006@exa.unicen.edu.ar by July 14, 2006 .
Publication
All accepted papers will be published in JAIIO 2006 Proceedings. At least one of the authors will be required to register and attend ASAI 2006.
Important Dates
- July 14 , 2006: Deadline for submissions of papers
- July 24, 2006: Notification of Acceptance/Rejection
- July 28, 2006: Deadline for camera ready submissions
