Where does the word "Tandil" comes from?
Tandil is a city that is located about 350 km away from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Its name comes from the Mapuche Indian words "Than" or "Thav" and "lil", which mean "falling" and "rock", respectively. These words actually refer to the "Moving Stone" (Piedra Movediza), a large boulder which stood seemingly until 1912.
