Controlled Solidification & Processes

Actually, this is the institutional project of the Solidification Group. It consist of the following topics:

Directional Solidification of dilute alloys with diverse cristallography.
Fluidity of binary and ternary alloys
Infiltration of Metal-Matrix-Composites (MMC)
Modification of As-Cast Structures in special alloys

Morphological stablilty during directional solidification

The onset of instabilities presents in the interface, affect the final microstructure in alloys directionally grown. In addition to that, the crystallography of the alloy could to affect the critical solidification parameters during critical transitions, such as planar to cellular or cellular to dendrites.
